Do You Have GUTS???

DO YOU???  Do you have the GUTS to get out of your RUT and change your life?

Because let me be the first person to tell you that you must have the courage to be honest with yourself, examine your life to find what is NOT working, confront your doubts and fears, and be willing to change.

This is not an easy fix – it will take persistence on your part. But I can tell you that the hardest part is just to START!  Those limiting belief Gremlins in your head will come up with all kinds of ‘reasons’ why you can’t or shouldn’t START.

You know what I mean…stuff like – I’m too busy right now, It’s going to be too hard, I’ll never succeed, I have too much going on in my life now!  Ya, That Stuff!!  Or other stuff, but you know what I mean.  All the excuses we use to put off what we are afraid of or don’t want to do.  So the hardest part is to START!

But once you show the Universe/Spirit/God that you mean business, that you are changing your life NOW, you will begin to ATTRACT help from some of the most amazing sources!  People will appear in your life with just what you need … things will pop up to provide answers … situations will be created putting you in the perfect circumstances to move you forward.

For example, in the book Eat, Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (the first “spiritual” type book I read) Liz decided to change her life and along the way the perfect man comes into her life. No, I don’t mean a lover…he is a guide, an angel – the person she needs at this moment to help her on her Path.

Liz describes him “as a man who moves with the authority of a…sheriff or life-long high-roller…” and he has white hair and beard, plain shirt, wide shoulders and giant hands.  This unlikely angel introduces himself with, “Man, they got mosquitoes ‘round this place big enough to rape a chicken.”  Richard from Texas has arrived!

Now I say perfect man because despite his physical appearance and colorful manner of speaking, Liz says “he becomes my great and amusing sense of security.”  His giant ambling confidence calms her inherent nerves and fears.   She says, “Remember the cartoon rooster Foghorn Leghorn?  Well, Richard is…like that and I become his chatty sidekick, the Chicken Hawk!”

And one of the first things Richard does is nickname her  “Groceries” because at their first meeting he notices how much Liz eats!  Keep in mind they are at an Ashram in India where her focus is supposed to be Meditation, not eating!  And it’s a place where the purpose of eating is to just maintain strength, not to indulge!

So you can see that Richard appeals to Liz through his humor. It’s later in their friendship that she realizes just how much he guides her when doubts and fears assail her and her mind ‘chatters’ in her head and steers her in the wrong direction. (More on Mind Chatter in another post.)

Now here’s a bit of homework for you to do…
Sit quietly in a place where you will not be interrupted and think about where you encountered ‘unlikely’ or unexpected guides or angels who have  helped you in the past. Perhaps they were there to point out a doubt or fear you haven’t acknowledged yet – either in a humorous or possibly a not so pleasant way!  You may have been angry, hurt or upset at the time, but now, looking back,  maybe now you can see how they were really there to help and guide you.

Talk to me – comment to this post and tell me about your “surprise” angel.  Perhaps they looked or sounded a little like irreverent Richard from Texas…or someone even better!
