“Imagination – “The Workshop of the Mind” ~ Napoleon Hill

Principle 5 – Imagination

Your “Imagination” acts as the workshop where your “Desire” is given a shape, form and actions to create all your Plans.

There is a quote somewhere that goes something like this…“man has the ability to create anything he can imagine.” Man has discovered and created more in the past 100 years than the entire history of man previous to that time.  Think of it…whatever you can imagine in your Mind is already created in the Universe – in your Spirit! You just have to align your mental vibration with what you create and you will attract ideas and plans to you like a magnet!

There are 2 types of “Imagination” – synthetic and creative.

As young children our imagination was very strong and we used it constantly. But during our years in school we were admonished to maintain our attention on the tasks and lessons at hand…stick with facts – no imagination allowed. No wonder our imagination has become weak to the point of non-existence. The good news is imagination doesn’t die off – it can be resurrected and strengthened through greater use.

In developing imagination start with the synthetic form, since it is what we use to create plans for and take action on our “Desire,” converting it into money. Start with a ‘Brain Dump’ during which you allow any and all thoughts and ideas to come into your Mind – without discarding anything, no matter how wild or outrageous we think they are, and recording everything in some way. To do this requires a quiet space where you will be undisturbed for a period of 30-60 minutes time, especially if this is your first time – your mind has lots to tell you!

Hill recommends reading his entire book through first, since every chapter contains detailed instructions for building your plans. Then return to the chapter on “Imagination” to immediately start creating your plans to transform your ’Desire’ into money. Put your plans into an organized, written form…the moment this is complete, you have taken the first step in converting your ’Desire’ into a physical form, be it a product or service.

“Desire” is a thought impulse – a form of energy! You can create and build riches by becoming familiar with and learning to use the Laws of the Universe.

About now your religious training may be surfacing and you may be thinking…”God made the Universe – me, the Earth and everything in it” and your inclination is to completely discard these ideas, especially if this is your first exposure to them.  I must tell you that I don’t disagree that God/Supreme Being created all that is.  However, let me offer you one thought to consider first if you will…

Many of us have been taught that our Supreme Maker – God or any name you prefer – made the world (Universe) in 7 days.  But are we so arrogant as to believe that “God’s day” is the same 24-hour day as we humans, with all our limitations, experience here on earth? Would we then not conclude that since God has no beginning nor end…always was and will be, Time as we define it cannot be attributed to God? Therefore, “God’s Day” could easily be millions or even billions of years long as measured by our comprehension and definition of Time!

Keep an open mind to the possibilities and allow God and His true Purpose for you on earth to blossom, grow and unfold. For His “Desire” for each and every one of his children is to have everything we ‘desire’ – as long as it harms no one and is for our Greatest and Highest Good!

Be sure to read Napoleon Hill’s chapter on “Imagination” in its entirety to learn how imagination was the ‘secret’ ingredient added to a big black kettle and a formula that became the new owner’s multi-billion dollar idea which you are still familiar with today!

Then learn the 6th Principle to manifesting money in the series “13 Principles to Manifesting Money” …based on I information gleaned from Napoleon Hill’s book, Think & Grow Rich.

As always please leave your comments…they may just inspire someone’s road to success!

(The excerpts noted in this and the following articles in this series are not meant to replace or supplant reading Napoleon Hill’s complete book Think & Grow Rich.  My intention is to pique your interest and your desire to read Hill’s book by providing an overview of its concepts.  In fact, I highly encourage you to read the entire book, re-read it, then read it again.  No matter if reading a few marked passages or entire chapters, I always reap from this book some new understanding to apply in my life.  And we never know what will stir the ‘AHA’ or mindset shift that begins our Journey to Success!)
