“The Driving Force” – Napoleon Hill

Principle 9 – Power of the Master Mind

Power is essential if your desire is to accumulate and retain wealth.  Plans are useless if you don’t have enough power to translate them into action.

Power can be defined as organized and intelligently directed knowledge.  As used here power refers to organized effort that enables you to transmute desire into a monetary equivalent. “Organized effort” is when two or more people coordinate and work toward a definite goal in harmony.

Since power is organized knowledge, here are the three possible sources of knowledge:

a. Infinite Intelligence – this source can be accessed with the help of creative imagination. (see the 5th principle on Imagination)

b. Accumulated Experience – not your own experience but that which has been organized, recorded and is available in the library.  And some of which has been classified and organized to be taught at public schools and colleges.

c. Experiment & Research – new facts are being gathered, classified and organized almost daily.  Turn to this when accumulated experience doesn’t help…and creative imagination may be necessary to make this knowledge useful to your plans.

You can acquire knowledge from any or all of these sources and convert it into power through organization and plans of action.  You can recognize the enormity of the project and how difficult it is for one person to accumulate, organize and create plans of action, especially for large undertakings.  This is where having and using the harmonious cooperation of a “Master Mind” group is essential to gain that necessary element of power.

A “Master Mind” is the harmonious coordination of knowledge and effort, between two or more people to attain a definite purpose.  The use of a carefully selected “Master Mind” group in creating, organizing and carrying out your plans to achieve your goals and acquire wealth are essential.

There are two characteristics of the “Master Mind” principle – one is economic, the other psychic.

• Economic advantages are created when surrounding yourself with the advice, counsel and cooperation of a group willing to give whole-hearted support in harmony. This cooperative alliance has been the basis of nearly every great fortune.

• The psychic side of the “Master Mind” is a bit more difficult, but you can catch some understanding from this quote, “No two minds ever come together without thereby, creating a third invisible, intangible force which can be likened to a third mind.”

Your mind is a form of energy and part of it is spiritual.  When several people come together in harmony and cooperation, the spiritual sides of their minds all come together to form a kinship.  This is where we get the phrase “two minds are better than one!”  The “Master Mind” multiplies your brain power.

Our brains function similarly to an electric battery, and it’s common knowledge that several batteries provide more energy than just one.  And one battery provides energy in proportion to the number and capacity of its cells.  This shows why some brains are more efficient than others – and how a group of coordinated brains, functioning in harmony, create more thought-energy than just one.  The increased thought energy created through that alliance of brains then becomes available to each individual brain in the group!  Making use of a “Master Mind” group allows you to take on the nature, habits and thought power of all those in your group…increasing your own brain power with the intelligence, experience, knowledge and spiritual forces of everyone in your group.

Recall too that the first source of knowledge is Infinite Intelligence.  The harmonious coordination of your “Master Mind” toward a definite objective allows every one of the members to absorb power directly from Infinite Intelligence.

Money is also energy and loves attention!  Pay attention to your money in its every aspect…cash, liquid savings, checkbook, every form of income, bills, credit, debts, retirement monies (the untouchables) – everything!

Always know the actual amounts of each and everything you have – the cash in your pocket, exactly what is owed and when, and what is available to you at any given time.  Don’t just throw bills and change into your pocket or purse…treat it with respect! Keep track of how much money you have.  Create spreadsheets or lists of your money and your debt, and regularly update them to keep them current.

Showing your ‘money energy’ that you can lovingly take care of and manage it (including your debt) is a huge step toward increasing your ability to attract the money you desire.
