What Makes You Unique?
If you have been following me on Twitter, FaceBook or this blog, you probably know 2009 was a “9” Personal Year for me…busy all year clearing and purging accumulated old “stuff” and old thinking which no longer serves me (wow…there was a ton!) which completed one more 9-year cycle in my learning. And 2010 is my “1” Personal Year of new beginnings – courage, new plans and stepping into my leadership role.
Taking the bull by the horns…so to speak, the very beginning of January I participated in a women’s leadership retreat to learn what leader is going to mean for me in 2010 and how I could even be qualified to be a Leader.
I must tell you now…WOW! I connected with a phenomenal group of women and the most awesome leader and coach I’ve ever worked with! I can’t recommend this group highly enough. If you are an entrepreneur with plans to ramp up your business OR are just in the beginning stages and want to join a talented, loving, supportive group under an inspiring, spiritual coach who embodies the role of Leader with Joy, Fun, Honesty and Love, this is THE group for you! I will be sharing more about this amazing group very soon!
What I do want to share with you today is one of our assignments – don’t worry, it’s nothing like what we had to do in school. There is no one checking up on homework…this is strictly for our own benefit.
The task was to send out a letter…it was even written for us…to everyone I know – family, friends, associates, clients – requesting feedback about my unique talents, gifts and qualities. What did they see in me that stood out when I enter a room, join a group or speak with anyone? What made ME Unique?
Remember, no one was checking up on me, so I put it off . I allowed my FEAR about giving everyone I knew carte blanche to tell me what they thought stop me for awhile. But my inner guide kept nudging me to go ahead and do it – don’t be afraid! So I took the plunge and sent the letter, pushing the send button with shaking hand. After all, in my mind I was jumping into the icy waters of truth - but you know what they say…the Truth shall set you Free!
I am SO happy I did! I received the most amazing responses describing what people saw in me. They gave me the awesome Gift of seeing myself through their eyes – instead of through my eyes…with all my doubts and limiting beliefs. What a Glorious Gift! It enabled me to see myself in a brand new light…and I will forever view my Self differently!
If you want to see a whole new Self you never new existed, ask everyone you know what they see as your most unique qualities and abilities. You don’t even have to write a letter…just ask. You will be awed by the responses…you WILL view yourself differently and in a new light!
I offer my deepest gratitude to everyone who was moved to respond. And for the women who haven’t sent out that letter yet…you know who you are…I can’t encourage you strongly enough to give yourself this gift. The Benefits you receive will hugely outweigh the fears holding you back. You won’t be sorry!!
